Dark shining pavement, brick streets, a hot toddy and a moscow mule in a bathtub. Bummed a smoke from an Oregonian in a Seahawks jersey, shared said smoke with a homeless lady. Bought a burger and a 40 for a stranger. Drove up 99 and listened to Ratatat in duet with the fry cook…

It’s a weird feeling, that much I can tell you for sure! But weird in the good way.
I stepped off the plane yesterday evening in this new city, and I just couldn’t get it out of my head that I wasn’t visiting. This wasn’t a temporary trip. Unlike the last month or so, where every place I was staying in had a date in which I was going somewhere else, here, that concept of temporary stay doesn’t exist.

I woke up in a new house today and I realized that this was my home. This is where and what I’ll be coming back from work to. This is it.

I am 3000 miles west of where I grew up in CT, and 2250 miles west of where I went to college.

This is that next part of my life that I knew was coming, but I didn’t know how or when or where or what. When is now. Where is here. How… well, we’ll see! And as for for What… well, that’s even more exciting.

As I’m getting settled here I’ll be editing photos and finding time to write up all about my South America trip. I have about 10 more days to cover and then I’ll start posting about it.
